DJ LASER x SHYNE - SON OF SAM MIXTAPE

My BX connect DJ Laser puts together another mixtape, this time for Shyne.  To grasp the concept of the project's title please read below:

Ashes to Ashes…
In the Summer of 2000, a young, gruff voice, coupled with a gritty, grungy music video and an aura on un-touchability, embarked on a whirlwind of courtrooms, media frenzies, and, ultimately, incarceration. The voice was (undoubtedly) Shyne’s; the threat was (definitely) real; and, with the outcome, the code of silence remained (respectfully) intact. Welcome to the industry, kid. The story’s been told over and over, the fingers have been incessantly pointed. In a brief career that spawned three singles, scattered mixtape appearances, and the label ‘infamous’, before it was cool to be so, Shyne has left his mark. Now, after nearly a decade removed, all eyes are once again, on Shyne.

The Bronx is burning…
In the Summer of 1977, amidst a debilitating blackout, a crippling financial crisis, and a deepening recession, the Son of Sam killings plunged New York City into a chaotic atmosphere - the results of which would linger for decades.
In the aftermath of the brutality, the Son of Sam Law was passed - preventing convicted criminals of becoming financial beneficiaries of their acts. Shyne Po, the hip-hop community’s forgotten martyr, came face-to-face with this harsh reality throughout the course of his incarceration. Legally unable to hold profit from his story (which led to the breakdown of his Murder Inc/Def Jam venture), it became evident that Shyne’s actions on that fateful, cold, 1999 night would have lingering effects for years. Shyne, though, has strived.

I think that explains it all pretty well.  Download and enjoy...and pass around to friends.  Shout out to my boy Matt for cooking up the artwork.
