With all the relationship talk I've been in, the various rapper beefs we see on the web, the historical moments we've celebrated this week, and a lot of new things I'm plotting on my horizon...I've realized that all these things revolve around one common human emotion: FEAR. And as we should all know, there is nothing to fear but fear itselt. So listen to this track here, it's probably some of the realest ish I've heard over the years. Okay so don't forget that it's officially THROWBACK THURZDAYS on EAZEE STREET. So the Vault Series drop for today is from Melo's first mixtape : Blokk Movement. That mixtape was dropped in 2003 (I believe, I'll double check with Melo). This was a song dedicated to loved ones he lost in that time period both physically and otherwise. Listen up and let soak in.
This track was actually for yesterday, but I set my scheduled posting wrong. As you know yesterday, Wednesday, is the 'hump' day. So with all the stuff I have going on right now leading up to January 31st...I found i was really feeling this song and it's vibe yesterday, so I wanted to share it with ya'll. We all know things are thrown at us that can be seen as obstacles...but it's on us to jump over them. So here's Melo featuring Brandy (no not that one) with an uplifting tune.
Keeping with the Presidential theme of today, I decided to post this track from Melo's Roc or Bust mixtape. The first half of the of the 1st verse was written in 1999 and the track was recorded in 2004 yet the themes and topics are still relevant today. So take a listen and add it to your inspirational catalogue.
So since Fridays how now become FOCUS'D FRIDAYS with none other than Chris Focus and every week day is a gem from Melo's Vault I said hmmmmmmm, wouldn't it be cool if they had a track together? Then I remembered...they have a few tracks together. Well this is one of the ones that was actually mastered and finished. Featured on Melo's 2006 How 2 Rap 101 Mixtape, this track has a YOUNG Chris Focus (just known as Focus then), like almost 21 young, spitting bars with Melo KAN about certain "manufactured" rappers in the game. No names but you can draw your own conclusions. Enjoy.
Okay so I slipped yesterday, damn, but anyways I'm posting this as the song for yesterday and today; somewhere between Day 33 and Day 34 (hence 33.5). Over the last two days I've been involved in several male-female relationship based convos with some pals like Bri & Desi, Brenn & Jaye, my cuzn B, the godfather Diz Gibran and others. Good convos I might add...so I felt this song was just right (at least from the male perspective). Even though this is from 2001 it still applies.
As we continue on, the tracks keep coming. So IF U DON'T KNOW, this is day 32 people and 'Lo still has more in that vault. Download this one, upload it to your iPod or burn it to CD and watch another Cali Spitter get it in over some Just Blaze production.

Okay this isn't too far into the vault, but I wanted to do something a tad different for Day 30. This is the video for a track off of Melo's current project E.P.U. entitled Still Wanna Leave. The track is introspective one basically expressing the thoughts of a young urban male caught up in the life. Basically the young man doesn't want to be in this lifestyle but may have gotten too far into it. Attracted to it at a young age it is all he knows. We've heard the idea before, but the ability to show a more vulnerable side of person in that lifestyle is what makes the track different. So since it's technically Throwback Thursdays around here, I went way back into Melo's Vault and pulled another goodie from his first project, Bring Da Bluez (2001). This track is called Blink of an Eye, which many things can be gone in, and this track is about that concept. So cue up the volume and get ready to enjoy a classic.

Anyway I didn't get to post the latest installment of the Vault Series because Blogger was acting a complete idiot. So now I'm back with some posts you should've been reading yesterday and of course that new ish...since 2009 dropped it's apparent I've been trying to go harder and the FCC and the west coast in general is on overtime. In other words we've been killin' it; so I give you this track: Killin' It. This was off of Melo's Roc or Bust mixtape and is Melo doing his thing over Feelin' It. Enjoy.
So you thought I forgot about the Vault Series probably...I hadn't. I let it breathe for the Holidays and yesterday I didn't get around to it in time. But we're back in effect now with Day 27. So I figured this track title was only so fitting: Bringin' It Bakk. The track was centered around the idea of bringing the coast back. The west has been getting alot of attention as of late but in 2005 before blogging, myspace music and zshare blew the hell up...online magazines were the main bridge to independent talent brewing. Melo KAN brought some of that attention and it's why he's done shows in Arizona, Baltimore, Denver and D.C., as well as made some noise on their respective radio stations. Here is the track that would have dropped at the normal time today had I not dropped yesterday's today. The throwback pic for the way back track. This track is from Melo's first album "Bring Da Bluez" and he collabs with fellow 909 neighbor Notcho. The track is called Evbody...it's on some smooth Cali shit but touches on the rap game. Interesting that this was recorded in 2001 yet still reflects some of the current thoughts of 2008 going into 09. Listen up and stop sleeping already...
Back on track, if you knew the issues I've been having with the cpu...u'd feel bad. Anways back to the Vault Series. This was the track i felt was right for yesterday based off the title. The track is called "The Cycle" and was off the Appetizer mixtape. I chose it because Mondays are usually the beginning of a redundant, tiring and all around blah cycle for most people. On this track Melo touches on the inner city cycle. How many youth try the fast approach to obtain things, and when they get them they try to show off to prove they are doing something...which usually ends up in someone less fortunate doing something to take those things. Pretty horrible cycle...but it's one that we know all too well. Download the track and follow the storyline.
As we continue on...so my computer crashed this morning and now I have to do things by committee of the shared computer and whoever else's computer I can put hands on to do things today. GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTT!!! So sarcastic and annoyed is my mood...so I chose this Melo KAN track because it has the sound and feel of what I'm going through mentally RIGHT NOW!!! Melo going in over this Slim Thug classic (Still Tippin'), some believe this track was aimed at everyone's "favoritie" west coast rapper since Snoop...ionno. But this should make me a feel a tad better or prolong the mood I'm in...listen to it and you can understand where I'm coming from...

It's officially Throwback Thursday over on Eazee Street...so to keep the theme, I went way back into Melo's vault, blew some dust off the records and came across this gem. This was my favorite off of Melo's sophomore underground album: Tha Kantradikshun. I did the artwork for it but I can't find it. So i dug up this old pic of Melo, sans hair. Enjoy this one...should make u reminisce and think just a lil bit.

Well 2 reasons really, 1st off after last night's game I decided to leak Melo's track "I Love N.Y." today because I guess I was in a NY state of mind. I mean they "originated" rap and I get my NY hip hop on...but I'm still west coastin' all day. From UNI, Pac Div, Convinced, Chris Focus and Melo KAN to Nipsey Hussle, DPG, Snoop etc...I'm riding with it. And NY maybe the hoop mecca...but I'm a Laker fan all day. And the second reason I chose that pic...because I remember long nights (and days) playing Melo in NBA 2K, NBA 2K1 & NBA 2k2 as he chose the Knicks and made trades to have Shaq, Iverson, and Ray Allen on the same team as Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell & Marcus Camby and somehow...I still smashed with KOBE and the leftovers. YEAH I WAS THAT GOOD IN THOSE GAMES (ask about me)!!! Enough history...peep this track, it goes HARD, hands down!!!
Here is another Melo KAN leak from the Vault. This is one of the introspective records as Melo touches on topics from the contradictive thoughts that make a man to the shooting of the young kid Devin who was shot by police officers a few years back. This was a track recorded in 2005 over the Nas record: A Message to the Government.
So let's start things off right...now that I'm back on my ISH. This would've been Monday's track, and seeing that my internet was down and I had to find other means to do some of the "everyday" activity I was inspired by this track: Get Yern. Because on Mondays for most people (even the self-employed) it's back to the grind and getting yours. And on Mondays is usually when I have to deal with people I don't want to...off of Melo's "How 2 Rap 101" Mixtape, KAN goes in over that Spit Ya Game off that Biggie album that never should've dropped. And I'll be dropping yesterday and today's leaks later today.
It's Friday, it's been a long week and the weather is weird. So to calm the nerves of the people I'm dropping this gem out of the Vault. Here is Melo with the homie J. Rok (no not that Jay Rock) going in over a 112 beat. I can't remember the original song, I just know it was 112. Props to whoever can tell me what that song was again.
