During Atlanta's recent A3C Hip Hop Festival, Grooveshark teamed up

with the legendary Stankonia Studios and the Royal Flush/SMKA

production team to create an exclusive mixtape. The mixtape features

original songs from artists playing the festival as well as some

hometown heroes, and will be available November 16 to stream for free

exclusively on Grooveshark. The tracks will be accompanied by several

behind the scenes videos featuring the artists and production teams

creating the songs from start to finish. Artists who participated in

the project include 9th Wonder, Killer Mike, Ying Yang Twins, Freeway,

Aleon Craft, Fashawn, Thurz, Rapsody, and many more.

In addition, exclusive BTS videos will be released from Stankonia

Sessions.  There was a video production crew filming all 3 days

capturing behind the scenes footage of the recording process.

We are leaking the track today to celebrate the kick-off of The Atlanta Stargazing Tour presented by SMKA & Whynatte.  The first event of the tour is tonight @ the East Side Lounge, in East Atlanta Village.   Aleon Craft's Stargazing Soundtrack is comprised of songs, produced by SMKA, that Craft will be performing throughout the summer. 

The project  will be released in early August and will feature appearances from: Nappy Roots, Hollyweerd, Mikkey Halsted, Bobby Creekwater,  Shawn Crystopher, Playboy Tre,  El Prez, Young Scolla, Jarren Benton, Gripplyaz, C# Carla and production credits from Sol Messiah.

The homie from down south I met at SXSW through Grip Plyaz released an EP for ya'll...check the details below:

The Prologue is a two-part introduction into Aleon Craft (the artist) and The Solar-Hop Chronicles (a collection of his music to be released in the future).  It is the creation of Aleon Craft, SMKA (Music) & Esperanza (Art).  The Prologue Pt. 2 (Released Monday, April 19^th) is the second installment of the 2 part project.  The project is split into 2 parts so that the listener can take in the music.  Pt. 1 & 2 will be released with new music & features as The Prologue: Mixtape in late May.

A few years ago, Craft was better known as “Big Marc,” of Da Backwudz, a southern rap duo signed to Universal/Rowdy Records. Today, Aleon Craft, now a solo artist, has recently joined forces with SMKA (Marketing/Music Producers) and Esperanza (Branding/Visual Artists) to chronicle his work and life stories.  Craft has spent the past few years navigating the galaxy as an independent artist, and experimenting with music.  The Prologue Parts 1 & 2 are a collection of song that showcase the re-creation and re-introduction of the independent artist, Aleon Craft…and the project he is currently working on with SMKA & Esperanza: The Solar-Hop Chronicles.

Throughout his life, Craft has enjoyed music from all genres and cultures.  He has drawn musical inspiration from much of the funkadelic, Motown and southern hip-hop he grew up listening to.  However, he has never truly identified with one specific genre...so he decided to call his music, “Solar-Hop.”  What is Solar-Hop?  Solar-Hop is…spaced out funk over high hats and 808s, Maceo on sax, heavy southern bass, soul samples on Saturn, a bag of fresh vegetables, a cloud of yoga flame, a Cadillac time machine, a plate of soul food in a submarine, a balled with some bump, experimentation with no hypothesis or simply put: soulful, spaced out music or Solar-Hop.
