This week we kicked things off by introducing our audience to an artist by the name of Icon. The Los Angeles emcee speaks on how he got introduced to hip hop, networking within the industry as an upcoming artist, plus the plans he has for his music and overall career. We got a chance to also press play on a few records he has in the works from a project series entitled Welcome To Fresh Coast.

Later in the show we had the pleasure of going one on one with Kendrick Lamar. The Compton native goes in depth about his current project Section.80, the definition of HiiiPower, his personal relationship with Dr. Dre, plus the opportunity/responsibility he suddenly has to speak for an entire generation. Kendrick then goes through the entire Top Dawg Ent. roster, giving his personal thoughts as to what each artist/producer brings to the table. He also explains where he'd like to see himself a few years down the line and kicks a few bars for the audience.

If you tuned into www.homegrownradio.net on Thursday night like I asked you to, then you not only heard my interview but you should have heard the segment my boy Chuck Dizzle does called inbox music.  It's pretty cool, artists are encouraged to send in their music and get some radio play as well as a critique.  In my interview I actually critiqued all the artists.  Each artist has great potential, it's all about pushing the product correctly and to the right audiences.  I told them for participating I'd post their material.  It takes a LOT of guts to have your music played on the radio for someone to possibly tear apart LIVE on air.  Check these folks out and let me know what you think.  If you like these tracks let me know and I will post more of these artists' material.
