My good pals over at Rawe Mag caught up with the homie El Prez to chat with him on influences, hip hop friendships, the FCC and of course his music.  Check out the interview right over here.

SXSW: EL PREZ, CHRIS FOCUS, DNEZ, PRINTZ PAUL & MORE (DAY 2, DAY SHIFT)

So day 2 of the FCC trip to SXSW started with El Prez, Chris Focus & DNEZ heading over to the set of a video with Freddie Gibbs and Bun B that included cameos from Chuck Inglish, Chip the Ripper and Pac Div.  After getting it in with those folks they all headed to the main strip in Downtown Austin where everything was going down.  Along the way we bumped into Diz Gibran and Val the Vandle as they were getting ready to do their show circuit for the day.  We headed over to check out another spot where Grip Plyaz was performing and after all the homies jumped up with him for "F@ck Dat Hipster Sh!t" they proceeded to go into "Like This" a TreeHouse Club track featuring Grip.  The soundman tried to cut the short set and took the mics but Grip and THC continued to rock the spot with no mics.  It went down...the pictures of everyone jumping around only tell half the story (if that).  After that performance we headed over to see TiRon and UNI up the street.  TiRon got to rock a short set but other complications and what looked like chaos to me kept UNI from going on.  Luckily they had a surprise performance up the street for 2Dopeboyz.com's event.  The L.A. invasion continued as Jay Rock took the stage and rocked out as well as Kendrick Lamar who was given some shine on stage as well.  The night shift of Day 2 is pretty much where it set in for all other cities that this had become SXLA.  Footage this week.

It's finally here!!!  This has been in the works for some time but a couple of technical difficulties, trips out of town on some FCC ish and random mis-timings have held up the mixtape.  If you were paying attention at the top of the year I was dropping Best of 2009 interviews and the reception was great.  In the filming of these clips, I was asked what were my best of 2009 picks.  It was hard to pick particular projects but there were definite songs I kept in constant rotation all year round.  So these tracks here are the ones I was attached to in 2009 and most have carried over into 2010.  With it being Tax Day, this is the last day we're really supposed to deal with things from the previous year...so with this being the deadline to handle that, it became the deadline to handle dropping this mixtape.  The link below is the entire mixtape as one mp3.  The deluxe edition dropping later today will permit you to skip through all the different songs and will also include interview videos (including ones that are not available on YouTube) formatted to be watched on your iPod, iTouch and/or iPhones.  So for now stream it and let us know how you like it.  The tape features all the artists you see pictured: UNI, Pac Div, Nipsey Hussle, Problem, Snoop Dogg, Chris Focus, El Prez, DNEZ, Strong Arm Steady, Dom Kennedy, TiRon, Skeme, HOPE, J*DaVeY, Diz Gibran, Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar.

My boy PHILMATIC got some video of Chris Focus opening up his portion of the set while on the Riverside tour stop with Shawn Chrys for the Like A Kid Again Tour.  In this intro Chris Focus spits over Champion by The Clipse.  This track will be featured on a mixtape that Chris Focus is tweaking and said he'll have done a bit before the second leg of the tour starts.

Here is footage from the homie Chuck Dizzle's HomeGrown Radio show episode that featured FCC homie El Prez.  He explains his name, his place in the rap game, the lyricism on the L.A. hip hop scene and the Animal Style! concept.  He also brings along Chris Focus to join in for the freestyle session...they murdered the freestyle session.  Check it out.

SHAWN CHRYSTOPHER - THE AUDITION: THE REASON (VIDEO)

I was one of the first people to see this...yet I am probably the last person to actually post it.  All bad on my part...but then again it's been a long 24 hours.  I haven't slept and I probably won't until I get on the road with the Tree House Club, Cypressology and the homie C-Ball (producer).  Where we're going...SXSW which I've taken the liberty to rename #SXLA (you'll see why soon enough).  It will be slow as I have no "ghostwriters" for my blog...I will be working on updates from SXSW aka SXLA with Cypressology as we look to get interviews, show footage and behind the scenes action.  But as we're on the road for almost 24 hours starting at 10am today...you won't hear much from me today, on the blog at least.  Over here might be a different story.

PS: Last night I heard the Audition, this video is for the bonus track...I heard some very good material.  Hope ya'll enjoy it like we did last night.

Here are a few quality photos from Cypressology as we were at On the Rox to cover El Prez LIVE set for the Freddie Gibbs show.  El Prez was able to bring out all the features for the Summit At the Sands track as you can see from the pics.  That's right Shawn Chrys, DNEZ & Chris Focus were all on hand to rock that song and add some extra energy to the show.  El Prez rocked a bunch of tracks from the Animal Style! project and the crowd was feeling it.  Video footage should be ready soon.  If you want to see all the pics go here.

One of the 10 XXL Freshmen is rocking at On the Rox tonight and he's sharing the stage with some of L.A.'s upcoming talent.  El Prez will be rocking with some FCC faces in tow, as well as Dom Kennedy & Ayomari.  cARTer and Alexander Spit will also be rocking tonight.  21 and Up, $10 at the door.  Come through and hang with me and all the other good people in the house.
