LOS ANGELES LAKERS UPDATES : THE REPLACEMENTS...SORTA

With the exits of Farmar, Powell and possibly an early retirement by Luke Walton the Lakers had to reload.  I showed you they got Steve Blake, but with Farmar definitely joining the Nets I had to post Steve up again.  With Luke on the mend and wanting to strengthen the perimeter D we grabbed Matt Barnes...thank Kobe for that too.  If Luke can't really do much this season Matt Barnes will help us forget Luke's not there.  Theo Ratliff replaced Powell but there is no photo for him.  So deal with it...

LOS ANGELES LAKERS UPDATES : ADDING TO THE BENCH...pt. 2

Well look who's coming to hometeam...Matt Barnes and Theo Ratliff.  Some of you may remember Matt Barnes from UCLA and others may not have caught onto dude until he got into a small skirmish with Kobe.  Well Kobe admire dude's toughness to openly recruit him and now he's a Laker.  Via his twitter page Matt Barnes said it's been a lifelong dream to play for the Lakers and told Kobe "good looking".  With Josh Powell leaving, Mitch grabbed a nice veteran in Theo Ratliff.  Dude has been around but he's a smart player, plays D, is known to block shots and be a scrappy guy down low.  He's also developed a decent 12 footer that will help him fit in the triangle.  I'm liking how we're moving this summer.  I wish there was a way to keep Shannon though.

So the word from several inside sources has informed me that most likely L.O. will be signing back to the Lakers in the next 24-48 hours. I'm stoked if that's true. I know that he met with Jerry Buss on Tuesday morning (without his agent is the story given to me). Oh and the pic right above...that's just to show you how Kobe's been sonnin' Dwight since he came in the league. Lakers/Celtics in the Finals this year...Lakers in 7.

Though some things are all hearsay and rumors to make people pay attention to the NBA even in the off-season; the home team better figure out this Ariza & Odom situation pronto. Free Agency really screws up the NBA but it's business and as long as the institution can generate billions off of these dudes talents and athleticism...they DESERVE ALL OF THEIR MONEY, yeah I said it. But at the same time a little less pay and chances to chase more rings (that equal bonus pay) will get you a better payoff later. Anyway we'll see how this plays out.

Escape From L.A.

In the NBA world, the Clippers time of excitement is now over...why? Because they're the Clippers. So a week after hearing Baron was coming home and everyone was holding their breath over how dangerous the Clips could be...look who's leaving...Elton Brand...oh yeah Corey Maggette is out too...damn. What will B. Diddy do now...does he know something we don't?
