LOS ANGELES LAKERS UPDATES: Lakers Win, Kobe Dunks on Smith & more 3/4/13

Speaking of Kobe Bryant tho...in a tightly contested and intense game yesterday evening, the Lakers managed to walk away with the W. But what is probably the most notable play of the night, Kobe in vintage form drove by Josh Smith, elevated and threw down a vicious dunk to give the Lakers some energy and momentum. In a similar fashion, Kobe drove by Horford then elevated over Smith again for what was the go ahead layup to win the game. Always a catalyst of the flair [and high blood pressure], Kobe Bryant dazzled, wowed and paced another episode of drama in the Lakers' quest to make the playoffs. Hit the jump to see that dunk.

LOS ANGELES LAKER UPDATES: Kobe Torches Mavs, Smokes A Cuban

It's been a minute since you got a sports update from me, but I'm at the Los That Sports Blog HQ so it seemed right. Earlier this morning, some of you Angelenos may have been sleep, Kobe marched into Dallas with a small chip on his shoulder. After Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban made some comments earlier in the week about the Lakers amnestying Kobe. Well Kobe decided to answer with 38pts, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. He also hit some impressive shots down the stretch. Case in point: my twitter avi. It was a tightly played game and Dirk gave some nail-biting moments but the #LAKESHOW made it out. Steve gave us a dub, and despite only 9pts, Dwight's defense helped tremendously. After the game, Kobe tweeted "Amnesty THAT". Yo Cuban, the streets is watching, and the tweets is too. LOS ANGELES LAKER UPDATES: BYNUM BACK

Haven't done one of these posts in some time.  Well the Lakers ended 2011 on a good note by welcoming Andrew Bynum back to the lineup after a 4 game suspension.  Bynum looked good notching 29pts and 13 rebounds.  Kobe only put up 21 but was an assist shy of a triple double.  Bynum still needs to get in game shape and the Lakers now have to readjust again a bit to get used to the spacing with Pau and Bynum both on the floor but they looked pretty good.  I wasn't sold on Mike Brown as coach but I do like the way he has the Lakers playing defense and being more active.  The Lake Show plays Denver again tonight...let's hope for another win.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS UPDATES - NEW COACH, REGULAR DRAMA...

So we found a new coach...not who the city expected but it will be very interested to see how this goes.  I don't want to get into all the details, dynamics or sides to this...you can go here for details or argue with me on Twitter (that's what it seems to be there for these days) but what I will say here is that this has already stirred up the usual soap opera settings we're used to as Laker fans.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS + CLIPPERS UPDATES...GOOD DAY L.A. (ASW EDITION)

Just in case ya'll forgot...the hometown teams made great impressions during All Star Weekend...ask Blake Griffin who dunked over a car to win the Slam Dunk Contest, and Kobe who dunked on LeBron en route to getting his 4th MVP of the All Star game...tying Bob Petite.  Both players got back to work yesterday but with different results.  Blake Griffin had a spoiled homecoming in a route against OKC.   Kobe on the other hand got his team a victory at Staples over the Hawks.

We'll take all the Laker involvement in the All Star festivities as we can, so I'll gladly watch Derek in the Skills Challenge.  As for the here and now, Kobe and the gang are 2-0 so far on the road trip after knocking off (what I consider) light version of themselves, the Memphis Grizzlies last night.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS + CLIPPERS UPDATES...GOOD DAY L.A.

The day before these two games they couldn't both win, so the upstart Clippers upset our Lakers.  Both teams took care of business at home last night though.  Lakers knocked off their rival the Thunder and earlier in the day the Clippers' Blake Griffin went for a career high of 47pts, not to mention 14 rebounds as he went for another consecutive double-double.  Crazy huh?

On their east coast swing, Kobe and the crew stopped by their old pal Jordan Farmar's new crib and dropped off his ring he left when he headed cross country.  The Lakers also left 97 points, 32 that came from Kobe with Jordan and his new crew.  No love lost...or was it?

LOS ANGELES CLIPPER UPDATES...BACK TO BACK WINS via BLAKE GRIFFIN

Look familiar...yeah Blake was dunking on folks en route to 25pts & 15 boards.  Blake's play along with Eric Gordon helped the Clippers cruise to a victory over the Kings.  Proud of the way the JV is playing the last couple games...but it's still early in the season, ask the Heat, lol.

LOS ANGELES CLIPPER UPDATES....

I'm actually making a Clipper update because I saw this game in person last night.  They fought hard against a good team and earned a respectable victory.  Blake Griffin was a big reason for that...it's only the second win of the season but if they can play like that more often they'll actually win many MORE games.
