Well it's summertime officially and as many cool places as there are to live in Los Angeles and enjoy our local weather...there is something about lounging at hotels or "getting away" during the summer. In Los Angeles you can get away by never really leaving the city. A dope place to do that is hidden in Manhattan Beach, it's called Shade. I went here for my bday a few years ago and the spot is dope, after seeing Pau Gasol get interviewed here on NBA TV today, I figured I'd post this up. There is a pool, lounge with a full bar and it's right off the pier. The rooms are nice as well as they all have jacuzzi bathtubs and you can change the lighting in the room as well. If you want to go here check out the website.

EAZEE LIVING: GRAFTON ON SUNSET
So somehow I came across a card for this place and decided to check it out on the web. Found some dope pics and I must say it's a pretty nice spot that I've been sleeping on. Yes I live in LA but sometimes taking a "fake" vacation at a swanky hotel in your own city can be a good idea. Or if you frequent Hollywood like me this can keep you from having to travel too far while intoxicated. Nice modern rooms and suites; some that open right up to the pool area as well as a lounge and trendy restaurant that serves a great lobster and steak entree. If you want to find out more hit up the website.

COOL VENUES: THE VARDEN (A BOUTIQUE HOTEL)

So I went down to Long Beach for the Crawfish Festival...that was an enjoyable experience I must say. Looking over the list of sponsors for the event I saw a 'boutique hotel' was one of the featured sponsor. Now a few weeks ago I showed you another hotel in Long Beach that was on the sexy side and I know Long Beach is constantly building new stuff so I decided to look into it. Came across these pics and liked the little modern set up. It reminds me a little of SHADE in Manhattan Beach (I'll share that with you another time)...basically a nice place to get away without really leaving the Los Angeles area. The Lobster Festival is coming up in a bit, so maybe I'll get a room, eat drink and not have to drive back until the next day. Could be a plan...who wants to roll? Peep The Varden right here.

EAZEE LIVING - NYC W HOTEL ROOMS by BBG-BBGM

So this isn't exactly Los Angeles but with that new W being built in Hollywood I can hope right? But then again it's summer and traveling is usually an idea for us all. Well Aja got me thinking about NY next...and what do i come across as I'm checking out ArchDaily...the new W rooms in NY, designed by BBG-BBGM. The pics are from three types of rooms, the regular (I assume) the Wow Suites and the E-Wow Suites. All of them look good, so I need to look into these and see what it takes to stay a few nights and enjoy life. Anyway peep the pics and get the details over here.

COOL GETAWAYS - CARBON BEACH CLUB DINING ROOM

The pics are on the small side, but if you go to the site you can see more...anyways I was alerted about the open of the Carbon Beach Club Dining Room inside of the Malibu Beach Inn and read about the Hawaiian Prawns with Champagne Dressing and was immediately intrigued. They also serve a Black Margarita and steaks, salmon and other fine cuisines. On top of all that the spot sits on the ocean. So if you want to wow or stunner or simply have a nice getaway with a boo...this isn't a bad place to start kids. I mean plan in advance and book a room, or simply start here with dinner and drinks. And if you're too tired to make it back home...check in and have a romantic nightcap and wake up and look at the ocean. C'mon folks...u gotta treat yaself and others to the better things in life...it's only right.

COOL VENUES - SLS BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL

So they opened this hotel this week in good ol' Beverly Hills, and I heard Mr. Phillippe Starck had a nice hand in the design. Seeing that he's one of my favorites (google some of the watches he's done for Fossil and furniture for some pretty high end brands) I had to check the hotel out. Sort of a mix between modern and classical...yet all luxury, it makes for an interesting twist. The spot has about any amenity you can imagine and plent of entertainment such as an array of restaurants and a rooftop pool to keep it's guests and tourists alike happy. Go to the website and book a room for a "local escape".Thursday, June 19, 2008
