DOLLA : R.I.P. 1 YEAR LATER...

A young man killed way too soon...his strong ties to our city touched many of the artists you listen to from Los Angeles today.  This day last year the young man was gunned down at the Beverly Center.  A tragedy; as far as the suspect that was arrested, I have no idea what his ultimate outcome will be, but many people in our city are waiting to see what becomes of it.  Shouts to Skeme and Cire to name a couple of the people who knew him as family, while the general public may only know him as the rapper named Dolla.

GOOD FOOD - JIAN BBQ

Right near the Beverly Center lies on Beverly and intrigued me with it's corner placement...might've been the sign they used to have up.  A cool little Korean BBQ spot that I probably need to visit soon that looks modern and laid back from the outside but the interior shots look like the spot is a lil sexier on the inside.  Now I could've read the website wrong but I believe that the guests can 'cook' the meat choices.  Either way check it out: 8256 Beverly Blvd., website is here.

NEW VENUES - GUYS & DOLLS LOUNGE

This new spot just opened up over in West Hollywood last week so I figured I'd share it with you guys and gals.  Outfitted with some pretty gaudy accessories and furniture, lots of top shelf alcohol, bottle service and because it used to be Guy's and it's right next to Jerry's (by the Beverly Center) you can order sliders and some other goodies with your bottles.  The spot also has a concierge that can book your private jet flight and/or hotel accomodations.  I wish I was joking....no website yet so enjoy the pics.  The address is 8713 W. Beverly Blvd.

So NIKE's House of Hoops came in town today to the Bev Center...here's the rundown courtesy of Evil Monito:
"...Friday, October 10th, Nike is celebrating the Los Angeles opening of House of Hoops by Foot Locker, a hub for all things basketball and a home for consumers who live and breathe the game. The space, located at the Beverly Center Mall, will feature a hardwood basketball half-court as well as two big screen TV’s for consumers to check out commercials from the Nike, Jordan and Converse brands as well as behind-the scenes-interviews with top players. The basketball haven also gives hoops fanatics access to player exclusive footwear – the personalized performance shoes of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher and Pau Gasol, as well as limited edition styles. The store’s launch products include the Kobe Rice Hyperdunk, to be released on Friday, October 10th, and the Tony Parker Hyperdunk, complete with EA Sports NBA Live 09 in either Xbox or PS3 format, to be released on Saturday, October 11th. Images of both shoes, as well as images of the space, are attached. Friday’s launch event is open to the public and will take place from 5:30 - 8:30PM and will feature special athlete and celebrity appearances as well as a performance by hip-hop artist Ice Cube."
