Seeing that Nas is one of Chris Focus' favorite emcees, EVER in life...I felt that after that Nas post it was time for this post. Part 2 of the 2 song leak. In this song Chris Focus predicts a win by Barack Obama and how the nation will rejoice and breath a sigh of relief as it looks to start fresh and gives hope to a group of people who have felt like no one cares for them in this society. Chris Focus illustrates how many elders will feel as if major strides have been made and that a great accomplishment in history has been achieved. In contrast to the intensity and rawness of part 1, part 2 looks to ease tension and give a good feeling to the listener. CHRIS FOCUS - NIGHT CAP (1 of 2)

So as we all know, it's the big day, ELECTION DAY. A chance for history, a chance for change, redemption, etc. A lot of the youth, hip hop, underserved and underprivileged are looking to a specific man to mark the beginning of something new, deserved and better in our country. But with all positives there are negatives...and as most people that would love to see this change and hope for it, and go out and attempt to do something about it...there are still others who live to never see that day. So it makes you wonder, what could possibly go wrong. Well our resident artist Chris Focus has taken that step and expressed it through his talent: music. Part one of this series is pretty much a take on the evil of the world and it's evil will toward someone who could initiate welcome changes. Listen carefully...and as more debauchery happens on election day and with the skin head plot that was discovered weeks ago...it's something that we have all thought about or are thinking of as we vote today. But don't take it as discouragement...take it as motivation to vote for a better future and show the world to be open to CHANGE. I'll let Chris Focus take it from here....

VOTING POLLS' PROBLEMS...

So I've already started getting text messages about voting mishaps today...a road in North Carolina that many African Americans use to get to the voting station is closed off, in Florida the machines are all of a sudden eating up ballots and in Ohio there are ballots missing the Presidential category. Now as big as we are on technology...we couldn't catch these problems or get around them. Many people are being told that now their votes won't count...WTF?!?!?!?!! And this just in from my youngest brother: 2 polling stations in South (Central) L.A. had a power outage and voters had to be moved. They better keep the polls open longer to accomodate this foolery ('cuz that's what this is). Go here for the story about the power outage.

TODAY...

Today is the day, ELECTION DAY...see the pic above, it is part of the big wave of the hip hop generation involving itself in something we have been known to ignore for a long time: GOVERNMENT.  Plenty of celebs, hip hop and not, have been pushing for people to register to vote and then vote.  Stakes are high (no De La) and you already know about today even if you weren't trying to pay attention to politics.  So if you're registered (which you should be) then get your ass to the polls and do your American duty.  Don't let all the motivation, hard work and even hype become just that: HYPE.  Make a difference, CHANGE the world.  And if you don't get your person...and you didn't vote, then STFU and bury yourself alive.  That is all.

LOCAL SPOTLIGHT : OBAMA FOAM FINGERS

I told you that I had family members who founded this movement so it's only right that I make them the Local Spotlight, especially with all the political climate increases with these debates. So let's give my folks some shine...

So the founders of the Obama Foam Fingers are Ajay Relan & Tenoa Stevenson of Los Angeles. Already engaged in the campaign through registration drives, phone banking and the like, the 2 felt they needed to make their own unique push. It came to them while watching a Laker game and saying how every kid loves foam fingers...then during a commercial break...an Obama commercial dropped. The vision hit them both, they looked at each other and already understood their call. They debuted them at the DNC in Denver and they sold out quickly. They have now concentrated on making them for orgs and thus scored the largest labor union (1.9 million members). They are now pushing to have them sold at Howard University's homecoming and other vendors of the campaign trail...and if Barack claims the presidency they know their will be even more opportunities. Democratic National Convention 2008

On another presidential note, I couldn't be at the DNC this year, but a good friend was and he showed me his pics of the event. My boy Jaime is an A+ photographer who know's how to capture events and represent the feel of them. Whether fun or historic he basically gets busy. Here are a few of the 150+ he showed me...I used these because I was moved by the amount of "famous" people who were there to show political support. Whichever way you're going to choose...I commend anyone looking to get active in making change (or not making a change).
