PAC DIV - THE DIV RELEASE PARTY (PHOTO RECAP)

Last night I went to support some long time family that you've seen on this site from the beginning.  My fam Mibbs, Like and BeYoung or collectively as you know them Pac Div dropped their debut album The Div independently and as expected we celebrated.  A who's who of local hip hop came out to support, from Tiron, Ayomari, Dom Kennedy, Chris Focus, Lite aka Coolroy, Basik of Bleu Collar, Overdoz, El Prez, Thr33zy McFly and more came out.  Fashion trendsetters Mega of Black Scale and Nick Diamond of Diamond Supply Co. were there, DJ Spintelect as well as close friends and family of Pac Div.  It was a great time and I snapped a few pics to give you a peek.  Don't forget you can grab The DIV right here.

My brothers Basik and Reese One get together for old times sake to drop a new track for the masses.  They're both Virgos so it's only right they celebrate on a track together.  As you know, Basik has been on his Black Scale and Forecast.TV move and Reese has been making noise with Troublemaker as King Fantastic...BUT they're back together on this one and the chemistry is STILL there.  Now all I need is a whole project from them.

So last Thursday I went to The Roxy in Hollywood to check out some friends like Bleu Collar, Diz Gibran, Shawn Chrystopher & UNI.  Now on Twitter, the Roxy let me know that if I blogged about the event and/or Twitter from the event I could have discounted drinks all night long...double score for me.  Now because of small misdirection I missed all the performances of my friends except for UNI.  In the middle of shutting down that lil bar area pictured above...I had fun with my folks like El Prez, DNEZ, Diz Gibran, Basik, Hip Hop Official, Meka, Shawn Chrys, DJ Spintelect, Tunji, the F2D crew, 1/2 of Elle Bon Claire, my bodyguard and many more...so enjoy the pics and relive the night or feel you were there having as much fun as we did.

So as the video was still being edited when Wednesday came around, Carl hit me off with this video of the director Amanjah, Basik of Bleu Collar and Mega of BLVCK SCVLE discussing the making of the video we're all waiting for: Bleu Collar v Portishead.  Check it out...I hear the video is DOPE as all hell...I didn't get to see it because they debuted it at an event that happened the same night as the 1 Year Event...couldn't do two places at once.

Bleu Collar Wednesdays are officially here, and Bleu Collar drops off that newness going in over Portishead.  I heard this around Christmas time before it was finished and I was on it.  This goes hard and it sounds like nothing else out in Los Angeles...do yourself a favor and download it NOW!!!  Training Day coming REAL SOON!!!

BLEU COLLAR WEDNESDAYS - GET FAMILIAR

So I've made mention of Bleu Collar before but they are now officially back.  Partly the foundation for the Great Wall (Bleu Collar, Diz Gibran, Pac Div & Kartwright), Bleu Collar was the alternate L.A. Hip Hop scene before the blogs told you who was who.  Reese 1 from Compton and Basik from Ladera Heights are what happens when gangsta rap and backpack hip hop collide.  The opposite spectrums created some of the more unique sounds on the LA scene.  They were the first unsigned Hip Hop group to get a residency at a Los Angeles venue (think Quik's Groove).  Basik who is related to members of the Living Legends crew honed his skills touring with them while Reese 1 was known as that "gangsta cat that be battling at Project Blowed" (and loves Wu Tang).  The two got together and made a name in several magazines and online websites before everyone had a blog and a mixtape.  Basik is also the older cousin of Mibbs & Like of Pac Div, and is responsible for getting Pac Div's first show in LA.  From there you've seen Pac Div grow and make their noise.  Above is footage of Bleu Collar performing live at the J*DaVeY house party for Diz Gibran's birthday.  The track is Bleu Collar vs MF Doom & Ghost, the same track was featured on DJ Sean G's Lever 2009 and is the track that they were shooting that video for with Blvck Scvle (look below).  Peep em out. DIZ GIBRAN - BRIDGES SHOW PICS

Last Saturday I told you about Diz' show at the Derby, and alot of ya'll came out to support. Diz tore the house down as all eyes were on him as he closed out the event. I'll have some video to show you soon. For now peep some of the photos that E Dub took at the event. Cali love was in the building as the usual suspects like Chris Focus, Convinced, El Prez, DNEZ, Like of Pacific Division, Basik, Kartwright, Raven Sorvino, and even the ladies of Elle Bon Claire.

THROWBACK THURSDAY pt. 1

So this ain't quite early 90's videos as many of my FCC bro's have laced ya'll with...but this is my own spin on the FCC tradition. This video is only from 2006 but it features 2 of L.A.'s underground celebrities. They were one of the first independent cats to shoot their own video. Basik (aka the Mayor) and Reese 1 were like a west coast Outkast with their contrasting styles that made for a great balance nonetheless. If you pay attention you will catch cameos of Kartwright, Diz Gibran & if you're quick...a young Pacific Division. The video was crisp...but all I could upload was my iTunes version so I don't know how clean it will translate here. UPDATE: This was directed by Jerome D and Executive Produced by Eazee Street loyalist Danny Williams. Shot all over the city in just one day. This was good time management. Oh and here's the audio if you're feeling it...

Blige when she still needed Real Love...but I gotta shout out Te-Reeze aka Basik the Mayor for putting me onto TBG and their re-emergence in the fashion world.  Never shy from controversy or political messages is one of the reasons I'm a fan...we went over this a lil bit in that Dissizit post a few posts down.  Anyway the above are samples from TBG's Look Book, and since Drake aka Drizzy is the rapper chosen to model for the new line...and we fux with Drake over here...this post is going up.

I saw this pic on NahRight after i started my post and saw that this was done by Mei Ling, who is LA based..so I had to give her some shine. This is the Great Wall post because it features new tracks from 3 members of that collective. I was with 3 other members last night...tell you about that a lil later. Basik of Bleu Collar fame, that's right the Mayor of Ladera Beach, just finished up a new one. Dropped to me c/o VG4081 aka VainGlory. Word is this gem was recorded at VG's home studio where many other tracks from the likes of Reese 1 (Him 1979 v.1), Pac Div, Diz Gibran and more are recorded, mixed and mastered. We'll highlight the spot soon, trust dat!!!!!!!!
