Posted by mr. la at 11:53 AM 1 comments

Chris Focus x Melo KAN from Eazee Media on Vimeo.

Speaking of material I've been sitting on, here are highlights (finally) from that show at USC, from about 2 weeks ago. I plugged it here and it was good one. I showed you a clip of Chris Focus freestyling to start the show...above are clips from his performance as well as Melo KAN's. There is also a cameo from El Prez. Enjoy. I was reminded that I had that as I sit and wait for new material to be dropped off from Chris Focus. He told me he has some choice thoughts in regards to THE BIG DAY TODAY!!!!

REESE 1 (of Bleu Collar) - HIM 1979 vol. 1 MIXTAPE

If you know, have heard or even seen the Great Wall (of Los Angeles, not China) then you've heard of Bleu Collar.  Alot of times it has been Diz Gibran, Pacific Division, Kartwright and Basik of Bleu Collar on flyers, email blasts, etc.  But if you know Basik of Bleu Collar...then you know there is a Reese 1 to that duo.  Reese is the yang to Basik's yin, and that so-called opposite is what made Bleu Collar so refreshing on the underground scene.  In their many shows the two were like L.A.'s version of Outkast.  Now the reason why Reese was a little MIA for some Great Wall shows is because my dude was serving some time in jail.  Before going in he had recorded some material...which ended up being mixed by DJ TurkNasty Supreme.  It made it's way to me a while ago...when Reese 1 was in jail...he's now a free man.  When I ran into him at the J*Davey concert I told him if nothing is going on with that...I'm putting it out to the public...he gave me his blessing and now it's here for you.  Share it with your friends and hip hop lovers alike.

TODAY...

Today is the day, ELECTION DAY...see the pic above, it is part of the big wave of the hip hop generation involving itself in something we have been known to ignore for a long time: GOVERNMENT.  Plenty of celebs, hip hop and not, have been pushing for people to register to vote and then vote.  Stakes are high (no De La) and you already know about today even if you weren't trying to pay attention to politics.  So if you're registered (which you should be) then get your ass to the polls and do your American duty.  Don't let all the motivation, hard work and even hype become just that: HYPE.  Make a difference, CHANGE the world.  And if you don't get your person...and you didn't vote, then STFU and bury yourself alive.  That is all.

BOOMBOX LA x THE EXACTLY x EAZEE STREET

Posted by mr. la at 5:20 PM 0 comments

In celebration of THE EXACTLY's 1 Year Anniversary over at BOOMBOX LA, I ventured out with Chris Focus aka Mr. 500 and caught up with some names & faces you should recognize from this blog RIGHT HERE. TiRon, 3-1-0, Convinced & those UNI guys. Hip Hop love was in the building and so was the FCC, as my boy E Dub took these flix and sent them to me. So I posted about 5 of the 20 to share. I'm sure E Dub has more for you here.
Omari San & Carter performed as did TiRon & UNI. Also in the house were Black Milk, Jake One and more.

While over at Tunji's cyber pad, I saw these pics and figured I'd post them up so that you can get acquainted with Inverse. I missed the shoot for their upcoming video for HipHopSoul, because I was stuck in LV (same weekend i missed Miguel's show) so these photos were taken so the folks who couldn't be there can feel like they know what's goin on... head over there to see more.

FCC Introduces: Tassho Pearce - The Leak

Posted by mr. la at 3:50 PM 0 comments

Straight from Hawaii, my FCC fam over at KNOWxONE, Ges put me on to this dude here. And every monday until the release of his "The Opening Act" we , The FCC, will be leaking tracks from it. Hawaii gives the LA scene mad love so you know we gotta give it back ya'll.
Below is some background on Tassho:
"For those who don't know who he is, or what he's about, check this post and brush up. Knowledge is GOD. Not only is Tassho a great lyricist, he's an entreprenurial force to be reckoned with, owning a succesful clothing label - Flip The Bird which has been seen on the backs of Kanye West, Method Man, Raekwon and even a Russell Simmons co-signage. So you know it's official! Tassho also runs in the same circles as the Dilated Junkies (Dilated Peoples and Beat Junkies), has collaborated with DJ / turntablist pioneer DJ Q-bert and is also working on a project with B. Money who produced The Prelude on Jay-Z's Kingdom Come."

AI to MOTOWN???

Posted by mr. la at 3:42 PM 0 comments
This has nothing really to do with LA at all...but Iverson is my other favorite hooper with Mr. 24 aka Mr. 81 the Reigning MVP. So they are sending AI away because the Nuggets still can't beat us (not the actual reason). I don't know what this does for Detroit besides give them a star...but it should help some of Denver's problems (DEFENSE, DEFENSE & PG). We'll see how this affects our Western Conference Champs...

It says expected...but that usually means the lawyers or making the touches on the details...
