To end 2009/start 2010 off right, Swiff D gives the public a FREE beat tape for download. You know Swiff for "Doogie Howsering" tracks for Pac Div but has also gotten placements on some major mainstream releases. He'll be a force in the future so get familiar with him now...I'm just saying.

So with the year closing there has been much reflection on not just 2009 but the first decade of the 2000's. Oddly enough it seems like 1999 was just hear yesterday, not 10 years ago. From that perspective DJ Sean G (Pac Div) brings us a mixtape dedicated to the end of the 1900's and the transition into where we are now. Pretty crazy to look at the names that were popping in 1999 and see where they are in Hip Hop right now...or just the fact that these songs are actually THAT OLD!!! The words of Sean G below as well as the tracklisting:
Well yall we made it through another year! This year definitely had it’s ups and downs, but one thing is for sure, we are all truly blessed to still be here. I’ve been hearing everyone comment on how quickly this year flew by, and I got to thinkin’….damn, this whole decade flew by. 1999 was ten years ago, but in some ways it feels like it was yesterday. Anyways, for your listening pleasure, let’s take it back…
KPL TV REC ROOM - Introducing Ben Kartwright from KPL TV on Vimeo.
I dropped a few episodes of the "Rec Room" this year and there will be more to come this next year indeed. As a sort of year in review check out this video. Though it was just posted the other day this is actually the first video shot in the Rec Room and it spawned the idea. This video was to introduce the world to Ben Kartwright, part of the Great Wall crew (Diz Gibran, Pac Div, Bleu Collar, B. Kartwright). L.A. hip hop with plenty of bars, enjoy.
It's now here, the day Kendrick Lamar has been preparing us for. If you've watched the sampler, downloaded the string of links you should have an idea of what the kid has to offer. He's a very talented dude who I can honestly say over the months I've noticed the growth in his writing. The kid should be a name to look out for in 2010, so pay attention. Shouts to Street Goddess, DeeJay Dave and the whole Top Dawg Ent. family.
A Moment with J*DaVeY pt. 2 from Eazee Media on Vimeo.
As promised, J*DaVeY is back with their thoughts on major labels in the "internet age", their fans as well as the reaction to Cassie's haircut awhile back. Yeah that haircut that had everyone calling Cassie a Miss Jack Davey biter...check it out and enjoy. More to come from J*DaVeY soon, and if you haven't download Boudoir Synema now.

I've been watching the Lakers from a distance ever since that Christmas Day embarrassment...and not giving updates on purpose. But since Kobe balled (like always) and the bench gave some help finally I decided we could post them today. Another 40+ game for Kobe in the books along with 11 assists...nice. Next up, the Kings on New Years Day.

For UNI's last official show of 2009 they shut the Viper Room down with their band and made it a historical night by having a jam session with some of L.A.'s finest crop of rising emcees including El Prez, Chris Focus, STIX, DNEZ, Krondon, A.T., Picaso and more...I'll have a video of UNI's performance of the Land of the Kings RMX tomorrow. I wasn't supposed to be filming there...but what do I look like passing up on exclusive footage for the people???
Kendrick drops some more visuals for the upcoming project dropping on Thursday. These two tracks have me even more anxious to hear what he has to offer on the project. He getting his bars off so make sure you pay attention to the words.
If you didn't know Wiz Khalifa is hittin the LA side of things this evening with an in-store, show and afterparty. He'll be rocking a show with Dre Biggity so if you can get out to the I.E. you should hit all these events up. Peep the flyers for some of the info for the various events going down featuring Wiz.
Speaking of Krys Ivory, Devi Dev placed this in my inbox and I'm just seeing it today...so now I'm making sure you guys see it too. She's beaten cancer, she's talented, she's very pretty (I saw her in person at the JBC Holiday Party) Ryan Leslie believes in her and she's homegrown. So get familiar with her...thanks.
Some impromptu performances by X.O. of Black Wall Street and Ryan Leslie's protege Krys Ivory and more, including my pal Krystle Wright. Like a random cypher that happens when it's a bunch of rappers in the spot...well good music and musicians in one spot gets this result. Check it out.
PROBLEM - AMERICA (MUSIC VIDEO) from BARON DAVIS' "MADE IN AMERICA: BLOODS & CRIPS" MOVIE SOUNDTRACK
A controversial song/video that I was given way earlier this year, maybe last year but was told to pull before many folks were able to see it. Well it's back in rotation as Street Goddess sent this over a few days ago. Problem makes some relevant points on the song no matter how raw he gives it to you...but as we all know, we do have freedom of speech. Peep it out.
Here is another bonus track from her album...this one is the other from the Japan release of her newest album Element of Freedom (in stores and on iTunes now). So since we love Alicia Keys here, I may as well share some newness from her with you.
Sizzle Reel...??? Yeah I'm not sure either but it's promotion nonetheless for her new album coming in 2010 so based off of that I'm posting it...enjoy, thanks.
Since it's the 25th anniversary of Brand Jordan in 2010 I already told you to expect plenty of drops from them...case in point these releases here (on top of the Silver Anniversary lineup). Some Spizikes that looks similar to some original colorways we all love as well as the Air Jordan Alpha 1. The Alpha 1 has the OG color scheme with perforated areas. I'm feeling it. These are due in January and February to start the year off right.
As you should know Stussy will be celebrating 30 years throughout 2010 so collaborations are heavy as well as the "XXX" theme. Here are some pieces dropping for next spring. Besides the hoodie there are some pretty cool pieces. Classic and simple, a good blend in most cases. Some pieces have hit retail in Japan already so go to Stussy's website to stay in the loop.
