CHI MODU x CROOKS & CASTLES CONCEPT STORE

If you don't know Chi Modu you need to...he's left a pretty significant imprint in the history of Hip Hop imagery. They will feature some of his work in an exhibition at Crooks' new Concept store on Sunset. I'm going to try and make it before heading to On The Rox for the Shawn Chrystopher show. Thanks to Karina for putting me on about this and read her words below so you know what's going down:

Chi Modu is a renowned photojournalist and cultural observer. He is a sought-after speaker and advisor to companies and brands who must leverage the impact popular culture has on their business strategy in this evolving digital age. He consults with them to better position for what’s next.

Chi chronicled the beginnings of the hip-hop movement, now a global phenomenon. In 1990, he began work at The Source, the definitive magazine of hip-hop culture. Through capturing images of the artists he was able to show them as real people, not one-dimensional celebrities.

Chi Modu’s timeless, unique photographs are often requested for commercials, films and music documentaries along with being held in private collections. His images have also been licensed by Sony, Paramount, Viacom, The New York Times and The London Times. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in environmental and business economics from Rutgers University and is a graduate of the International Center of Photography in New York City. He is founder and CEO of diverseimages and ephotos.com .
