Here goes some background on the Soundtrack and Score for the film Black Dynamite. Wax Poetics and Adrian Younge present both. Check it out and you can see how the eerie yet soulful sound complemented the hilarious antics of the film.
The score is composed by Adrian Younge, self-taught musician, film editor, recording engineer, and owner of one of the last fully operational analog studios in Los Angeles.
Both the Score and Soundtrack can be found on iTunes or Amazon and other music retail. Hip hop heads such as yourselves should appreciate the sound, the sampling, chopping and breaking done for it. Those principles seem to have been applied to create the soundtrack as well where you can find songs like the one I attached. The song is featured in the clip above.
