A duo out of West Covina that Jansport J put me onto a few weeks ago. They'll be dropping an album "Past Due" through the newly formed Cov Original Music LLC label. An introduction to the group below:
Blakface is an unique original hip hop group with sound blended live
compositions, and innovative yet conscious lyrics. Using the irony of the
blackface minstrel history, this group has set a purpose to reverse the
negativity seen in the minstrel era, to now not only look at just the
blackface surface but acknowledge the development and the progression we as
a society are trying to make. Authentic centric music created with an
hip-hop intellect Blakface is banging down borders, color lines,
limitations, and close mined boundaries while recognizing the past
generations ancestry and embracing the worlds culture today.
