HAPPY NEW YEAR from EAZEE STREET

Happy New Year from Eazee aka Mr. L.A. Be safe tonight as we head into 2009...there is plenty to do all over Los Angeles, but there are plenty of cops, drunks, and dummies as well. Hopefully your 2008 was successful and can be built on for more success in 2009. I saw alot of friends/fam come along way in 2008 and they're still on their grind(s) going into 2009. I will return in 2009 with more features as well as the ones that have built the base thus far. I've been keeping up with the usual...so I'll have video of Elle Bon Claire's Xmas show, pics from the Holiday Gala, pics from & video from the EchoPlex, video of UNI's show at Dakota Lounge, pics from Chris Focus & Aja's bday party, and some new music from local hip hop artists...so if you haven't noticed I've been on vacation...but 2009 I'm back with no letups...FCC is that train you're going to want to catch...I holla Street Wanderers...thanks for your support in 2008, let's keep getting it in 2009.

LAx Paperboy$ x UNI x PAC DIV & more...

So here is some footage I spotted over at Shake & Meka's crib earlier. I was here last night, but this cold I've caught had me in slow motion. So when I arrived the Mayor performance was wrapping up...which was the end of the show. Someone however captured some footage and posted it on the nets via Meka. The 1st video is UNI gettin' off some bars and right above is that "Mayor" LIVE. You should recognize some faces in the crowd. Shouts to my fam Mizzle & Mack over at LAx. I'll have some post show footage up after Xmas and VIMBY was there so I know they'll have much more stuff to snatch up and redistribute.

CHRIS FOCUS - EARLY BDAY CELEBRATION...

Word on the streets is Chris Focus will be celebrating his b'day a week early, and he's having it at the private entry, Sunday Night Hotspot (otherwise known as) Entree at OperaCrimson. Special invited guests include UNI, Pacific Division, Convinced, El Prez, the LAx Paperboys and more. And since it's also the last Sunday Night of 2008...it should pop off very nicely. If you don't have a way in...we may have some video footage for you next week...HOLLA!!! Chris will be celebrating his bday with Aja of "the House of Pretty" and Oh Soo Vain as well. Shouts to Premier Ent., MADE Ent. & Elevated LA!!!

AIR JORDAN 6 AIR FORCE 1 INFUSIONS

SO for the last of my shoe posts today, I'm highlighting the infamous infusions. Looks like NIKE is prepared to infuse the Air Force 1 with the Air Jordan 6 in 2009. I'm not 100% sold on this combo. The one at the very top looks to be the most official of all of them. Besides that...I'm gonna let these fade away into obscurity like Steve Francis (well he didn't completely vanish, he's in Scarface's new vid). The Royal Blue and the Infra-Red aren't too bad...but they're nothing to line up over.

Here is the track that would have dropped at the normal time today had I not dropped yesterday's today. The throwback pic for the way back track. This track is from Melo's first album "Bring Da Bluez" and he collabs with fellow 909 neighbor Notcho. The track is called Evbody...it's on some smooth Cali shit but touches on the rap game. Interesting that this was recorded in 2001 yet still reflects some of the current thoughts of 2008 going into 09. Listen up and stop sleeping already...

LOS ANGELES LAKERS - FINALLY WIN

On top of my computer drama this past weekend...I had to watch my Lakers get beat by 2 Florida teams who shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath (hence I didn't say who they were). Both games winnable, both teams highly beatable...anyway they bounced back last night against the team above (sort of) and got back to their winning ways. O.J. Mayo, one of my favorite Rooks to watch gave out a little work last night though. Still not sure if I wan't to watch tonight or Christmas Day.

Yo Tunj...forgive me for being a day late on this track. If you've never known the background on Tunji know he's a sick emcee that makes up 1/2 of the group Inverse. They've been making some noise out here for some time and they just dropped this new track yesterday featuring Deacon of CunninLynguists. This is the single off of their upcoming EP: So True, which is due on the 1st of January (same day they dropped their last project So Far) Enjoy.

Back on track, if you knew the issues I've been having with the cpu...u'd feel bad. Anways back to the Vault Series. This was the track i felt was right for yesterday based off the title. The track is called "The Cycle" and was off the Appetizer mixtape. I chose it because Mondays are usually the beginning of a redundant, tiring and all around blah cycle for most people. On this track Melo touches on the inner city cycle. How many youth try the fast approach to obtain things, and when they get them they try to show off to prove they are doing something...which usually ends up in someone less fortunate doing something to take those things. Pretty horrible cycle...but it's one that we know all too well. Download the track and follow the storyline.

I'm a sucker for kicks...and I like art, so when I spotted this on Hypebeast, I had to post this here too. Vinti Andrews who had done some installation art before with Nike was asked to do more and she made 2 pitbulls. One out of various colorful Air Max 90 shoes (pictured above) and another out of Dunks. The Air Max 90 versions are available for purchase at Loveless in Tokyo. This is fresh ISH!!!

OKAY SO THIS IS WHAT U NEED TO DO: 2Nite go to Central, my girl Lindsay J is putting on a nice Red Carpet BET event at Central and/or visit Element for Gheren Vitte & Elevated LA's Holiday party. Saturday put your good clothes on (suits, ties, gowns, and nice dresses) and hit the Oceans LA (tix are selling fast) 3rd Annual Holiday Gala. Rest up and hit Dakota Live (the old Temple Bar in Santa Monica) and check out UNI...coming fresh off a plane from NYC (more on that later) and if you got pull like me head over to Entree after and party with Keri Hilson. Alright...now you know where to go and where to BE!!!! YESSSSSSS!!!

I don't really follow the whole KAWS & OriginalFake thing like some people, but I know that I've seen some pretty interesting pieces (clothing and art) by them. But I posted this because this tee really got my attention in that maybe I'll buy this kind of way. And it's just in time for the holidays. Basic tee, hand sketched KAWS' Companion character...simple colorways. But then again, most times: LESS is MORE!!!

As we continue on...so my computer crashed this morning and now I have to do things by committee of the shared computer and whoever else's computer I can put hands on to do things today. GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTT!!! So sarcastic and annoyed is my mood...so I chose this Melo KAN track because it has the sound and feel of what I'm going through mentally RIGHT NOW!!! Melo going in over this Slim Thug classic (Still Tippin'), some believe this track was aimed at everyone's "favoritie" west coast rapper since Snoop...ionno. But this should make me a feel a tad better or prolong the mood I'm in...listen to it and you can understand where I'm coming from...

Another throwback track for the day/night.  This time from Pacific Division, throwback pic just for kicks.  This is the song that introduced me to these cats a few years back.  I was like these lil dudes are dope...they told me: B we gonna be everywhere doing everything and make the world take notice.  Well I think they're doing that pretty well these days.  So for all you folks who have just gotten hip to these dudes...peep this out.

So it's almost Friday, but I meant to post these earlier.  On my throwback sh!t, I'm dropping an old Diz tune from Spin City vol.1...this one of my fav's. I played it everyday for months...all through these LA streets.  The track is called Dizzy...which is actually how I was introduced to this man in 2004.  Been fam ever since.

It's officially Throwback Thursday over on Eazee Street...so to keep the theme, I went way back into Melo's vault, blew some dust off the records and came across this gem. This was my favorite off of Melo's sophomore underground album: Tha Kantradikshun. I did the artwork for it but I can't find it. So i dug up this old pic of Melo, sans hair. Enjoy this one...should make u reminisce and think just a lil bit.

I've never been big on Adidas, never had a pair of shelltoes, had a running shoe or 2 and really wanted those Kobes I never bought...but besides Recs, I'mma Nike Head all day. But I'm posting these because it's in celebration of a Laker legend we all know and love: Magic Johnson. This is inspired by the 1980 Game 6 Finals win where Magic Johnson was the 1st rookie to earn a Finals MVP. So outta due respect...i'm posting these Adidas Instinct Hi's. You'll have to search to find where to get em. Peace.
